WiS Lesson 7A Notes

The original Writing in Stereo was published online back in the late 1980's.  Its purpose was to apply creative radio dramatics to all aspects of the teaching of high school English.  Each lesson included a lesson plan and notes.  I'm sharing these with you here. Notes (VII.A) To effectively contrast the broadcast style of news writing, we must acquaint students with the traditional newspaper style. Ironically, it's getting harder and harder to find a traditional "five w's" variety of "hard lede." Today newspaper writers begin some of the hardest news stories with what we'd have to call a soft lede. Persevere. You can still find the traditional style in abundance.
